Town of Mendon, Massachusetts — Spring 2026

Mendon is asking voters to authorize a Prop 2½ override

Mendon voters will decide whether to authorize a Prop 2½ override for FY27. The proposal raises the levy limit to support school and town services, including public safety and municipal operations. Use this site to review the amount, the service impacts, and the official voting timeline before Town Meeting on May 12 and the town election on May 19.

Public information session: Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 6:30pm at Town Hall.

We'll discuss the FY27 budget and Prop 2½ override and answer voter questions.

This covers all of town government, not just schools. The MURSD district assessment is the largest cost driver, but the override funds Fire, Police, and municipal administration too.

Before you vote

Five things worth understanding first

  • Does this override pay only for schools, or for all of town government?
  • How was the dollar amount decided?
  • What gets cut if it fails?
  • Is this increase permanent — will my taxes stay higher every year going forward?
  • Where is the official warrant and what does the ballot actually say?
